Update: San Marcos GI Forum to Host State Mid-Year Saturday April 6, at the San Marcos Complex

The American GI Forum of Texas, Inc.: AUSTIN, Texas State Commander Mario Perales has called for the Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting has been moved to Saturday April 6, 2024, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in San Marcos, Texas.  The San Marcos GI Forum is hosting the meeting to be held at the San Marcos Chapter Facilities 415 S. Mitchell Street in San Marcos. For information call Jesse Sanchez, meeting coordinator, at (512) 665-0881 or Gil Rodriguez at the State Office at: (512) 992-7066. If you plan to arrive Friday, please call Jesse or the State office for hotel information. Some Hotels are close to the site on the west side of IH 35. The state did not block rooms in any hotel for this one-day meeting.

Notice of this meeting is being posted on our website and proper notices were sent or are being sent to all Officers and Local Commanders/Chairs via E-mailed to all in our data-base.

Registration from 9:00 am and the Board meeting will start at 10:00 am Saturday. State Officers, Officers, and duly elected or appointed Region Commanders and Chairs must attend. Local Commanders and Chairs are invited. Registration for the meeting is $35.00 per person which includes continental breakfast, coffee and refreshments and a catered lunch will be served. Meeting is scheduled to conclude at 4:00 pm but may run until 5:00 pm.

The meeting will have an agenda of important items that need to be discussed prior to our State Conference Scheduled for June in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and prior to our 2024 National Conference. The agenda will be provided for all registered members and guests. Items will include Finance, Budget, Constitution amendments, State and Federal Charter IRS designations and importance of local Chapter’s IRS filings. Board travel and some proposed plans by the Board will be on the agenda. Every meeting is important. complete state and financial report by AGIF Texas Office and by the Executive Board are scheduled.

Every member present, in good standing and registered, will be permitted to participate in discussions. Only Board members may vote. Constitution Changes, Amendments and resolution, may be passed but will be referred to the State Conference in June for final approval..

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled immediately following our state conference. State Commander Perales informs us that a National Mid-Year Conference by Zoom or Teams is being scheduled. The 2024 National Conference scheduled for Washington DC will be discussed. Updates on all events will be posted on the Texas AGIF website.

Items will include Finance, Budget, and Corporate Assets, and the election or evaluation of the AGIF Texas CEO by the Executive Board. Board travel and some proposed plans will be on the agenda. We will be discussing ways to retain and increase membership, utilizing our resources better on how to best continue growing our organization. Of important to all our veterans and families’ progress of new programs will be introduced for discussion. This short meeting is an in-person meeting and will devote time to find ways to return to normal. Everyone present, in good standing and registered, will be permitted to participate in discussions. An agenda will be provided for all attendees. Only Board members will be allowed to vote. Some items although discussed will be referred to the State Conference in June. The next duly called Board meeting is not scheduled until February/March 2023, location TBA before the 2023 the State Conference in June scheduled in El Pase. The San Marcos Forum Chapter is hosting the meeting being held at the San Marcos Public Library Meeting Room at 625 East Hopkins Street in San Marcos. We will be discussing and finding ways to retain and increase membership, utilize our resources better and how to best continue growing our organization.
