Rockport Chapter Memorial Day Ceremonies in Rockport
During the Memorial Day celebrations, I had the privilege of visiting the Rockport Chapter, accompanied by Mr. Fidel Acevedo from the Austin Chapter. We received a warm welcome and were treated to a heartfelt ceremony honoring our heroes who sacrificed for our nation. A flag raising ceremonies in the company of many local and state dignitaries at their memorial park Playe tribute to all local warriors who given their all for freedom. Following the ceremony, we enjoyed a delightful lunch and had the pleasure of reconnecting with long-time past Women’s Chapter and Region 1 Chairwoman Anita Dominguez.
We also visited their newly renovated clubhouse, one of the oldest in the AGIFTX network, which genuinely embodies the community’s heart and spirit. Later, the Chapter awarded a letter of commendation to the Color Guard at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi for their support during the ceremonies. For many years, the Rockport GI Forum has actively participated in city-wide memorial events, with Past Region I Commander Richard Dominguez playing a key role. His son Ron is now stepping up to carry on that proud tradition. (photo b2)
